rue de Tanger
Associate Member / Morocco
rue de Tanger is an artist-run-space rooted in the old médina of Casablanca. Since 2017, permanent residents have been working in a renovated 19th-century house, inviting artists and collectives to develop projects. The space combines artistic production, research, and exhibition across multiple practices including public space installations, archives, performance, architecture, and research by local and international artists. Research-action residencies engage participants with the neighborhood and its communities, exploring heritage through interdisciplinary approaches. The space facilitates workshops and public encounters through participatory methodologies and local partnerships. As a member of Trans Europe Halles, Rue de Tanger is involved in network projects and is open to collaboration with cultural spaces and actors across Europe and beyond.

What makes the organisation unique?
rue de Tanger merges artistic production with architectural and urban research, using performative approaches to reimagine heritage as a living social space rather than a museum object
