Verkatehdas

Verkatehdas is an old red-brick factory building from the late 19th century that once produced baize (a green felt-like fabric used to line snooker tables) and has now been turned into an atmospheric venue for diverse events. It is located in the centre of Hämeenlinna in Finland by the lake Vanaja. From concerts to contemporary circus and from small meetings to international conferences, Verkatehdas hosts a range of cultural events.

What makes the organisation unique?

Compared to traditional cultural centres, Verkatehdas has a much broader scope. The old factory houses a unique ensemble, including a 703-seat music and congress hall with cutting edge technical equipment, a conference centre, a cinema and a restaurant.

The premises also include Hämeenlinna City Theatre, Hämeenlinna Art Museum, Sibelius’s Birthplace Foundation and ARX Children’s and Youth Cultural Centre. Many cultural and media associations and companies, as well as professionals, have also found their way there.
