The Social Inclusion Lab (SOIL) is a project that aims to reduce inequalities in the cultural field, by empowering European cultural centres and providing them with necessary know-how to improve their work with social inclusion and contribute to relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
About the initiative
The Social Inclusion Lab (SOIL) aimed to reduce inequalities in the cultural field by empowering European cultural centres with the know-how to improve their work on social inclusion and contribute to relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The project consisted of five co-design and co-development workshops for two cultural centres in Turkey and Ukraine, facilitated by Trans Europe Halles with the intention of building a comprehensive model for social inclusion within the centres. It built the centres' capacity, developed a clear and simplified process, and offered tools and a shared knowledge base, using a participatory approach. Some workshops engaged vulnerable groups, local art communities and civil society organisations in both countries, raising awareness of social inclusion and relevant SDGs.
What happened in the project
- Five two-day workshops, facilitated by TEH in Ukraine and Turkey, some also open to the centres' staff and external participants, including artists belonging to vulnerable groups, and participants from the local art community and civil society organisations.
- A study visit and artistic interventions by artists belonging to a vulnerable group.
