Stenkrossen

Founded in 2012 by the Lund Municipality, Stenkrossen in Sweden is an organisation that promotes art, culture and innovation. It provides open, collaborative spaces and various resources for people to work on both artistic and technical projects. There is a broad range of projects – from solar-powered bikes to urban gardening to virtual reality.

These projects do not have to pay rent. However, in return, Stenkrossen requires project leaders to offer open workshops to the public to showcase their work and teach new skills and contribute to some of the Stenkrossen events.

Stenkrossen – which means ‘stone crusher’ in Swedish – supports projects that align with their mission of promoting cultural, social, ecological sustainability and engage the greater Lund community.

What makes the organisation unique?

The organisational format, which is run by a mixture of civil society, professional artists and the city of Lund.
