Open Spaces network (Marom Association)

The Open Spaces Network (Szabad Terek Hálózata) was established in 2017 to broaden the shrinking spaces of civil society in Hungary. Their coalition works for a more open and more democratic society where people are not just free to be themselves, but they help each other, and are active citizens who build a solidarity-based, socially inclusive and sustainable society.

The goal of the network is to create more and more open spaces which cater to the needs of a diverse audience, provide an independent platform for important topics that affect society and make it possible for people to express critical views or stand up for social justice, host or organize events of subcultural, or non-mainstream art.

They envision a civil society, in which NGOs are strong, independent and operate their community spaces freely.

Currently they have 60 members in nine cities.
