Kulbroen / The Coal Bridge

Aarhus’ new and unique cultural institution and public space. Built on industrial heritage. Built for the cultural creators and guests.

Kulbroen is a concrete bridge, a remnant from a part of Aarhus’ industrial past. Kulbroen team are activating this heritage – transforming it into a new landmark and icon for the city of Aarhus.

Kulbroen is a public space created to connect to its surrounding people and buildings – physically and mentally. The public space houses a unique cultural institution and venue. The institution exists to be easy and flexible for ALL to take active part in. Where they share the stage time between as many interesting people as possible. They help support and catalyse new cultural initiatives in Aarhus. And offer a space for the city itself to show what they all believe in and want to change.

Now and in the future, it is a place to enjoy many different experiences and feel a part of equally many stories. They create vibrancy on many levels of the city and bring business and cultural actors together for the benefit of Aarhusians and guests.

What makes the organisation unique?

Their physicality in unique as our centre is based around a bridge. They aim to bridge parts of society through an open cultural platform.
