Haceria Arteak

Haceria Arteak is a non-profit cultural association that emerged in Bilbao in Spain in 1997. The association recovered an industrial space in an old port and post-industrial area of the city and from there it began to promote different cultural projects integrated in the context of the neighbourhood with local, state and international ambitions. Currently it manages different buildings covering a total of 1,445m 2 .

In 2008, the association started ZAWP Project (Zorrotzaurre Art Work in Progress) within the framework of the neighbourhood: a space for urban transformation, a space of possibilities that Haceria Arteak wanted to provide a different perspective through culture and creativity.

What makes the organisation unique?

Haceria Arteak works to achieve the widest possible sustainability of projects across different sectors of the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs) in the Basque Country, generating business models and products to place them in the international vanguard through training programmes, accompanying their development and management, and helping them in their internationalisation processes. This is done by giving value to the transition periods of the use of post-industrial urban areas and spaces in transformation through the development of activities related to culture, art and creativity.
