Art Space Mala

Full Member / Latvia

In its 12 years of existence, MALA has grown into a recognised, sustainable, and impactful hub for creative activities and community engagement.

  • TEH Membership

With over 120 events annually, MALA’s cultural programme is the largest in the region, playing a crucial role in decentralising Latvia's cultural scene. By ensuring that creative expression and cultural participation are accessible beyond the capital, MALA helps create a more inclusive, dynamic, and balanced cultural ecosystem.

The cultural space that MALA has nurtured not only provides vital support for artists but also serves as a platform for local initiatives. It strengthens social cohesion, promotes local cultural identity, and boosts cultural tourism, drawing both visitors and artists to the region. Over the years, MALA's cultural programmes have revitalised the Cēsis brewery, raising the city's profile and contributing to its ongoing development.

MALA continues to attract a growing, diverse audience—from children and young people to adults and seniors. This is a testament to the thoughtful curation of its programme and its commitment to democratic participation in the arts.
