Back to the Future – Making Events Post-Pandemic
Will we party post-pandemic? How will that transform our venues and programmes? And how will we define that very collective experience we call events?
The COVID-19 pandemic has been destructive to the many ways in which people go out and experience arts and culture collectively. But what happens when (or if) this is all over? While we already witness some venues reopening in other continents, many are only testing the limits of doing it safely. And for most of us, lockdowns keep the perspective blurred and uncertain. Together, we can and we should rewrite the rulebook for future events in the sector.
For this session, TEH brings two speakers Lutz Leichsenring and Pieter Lubberts, who have been at the forefront of the latest developments and solutions for events production around the world. They will present the Global Nighttime Recovery Plan – a collaborative, practical guide for cities. And the Fieldlab Events – an initiative to build a comprehensive Corona road map with cross-sectoral participation.

Who is this session for?
This is a free and open online session for TEH members and anyone interested or involved in event organisation and nightlife activities.

Lutz Leichsenring
Lutz Leichsenring is a consultant and a chief shareholder of a talent recruiting company “young targets” in Berlin and a nighttime advocacy consultancy “VibeLab” in Amsterdam, as well as one of the world’s leading advocates for the nighttime economies.
During the Covid-19 crisis, Lutz Initiated “United We Stream” and nighttime.org to support nighttime culture. He is also taking part in a collaborative international research project “Global Nighttime Recovery Plan”- a practical guide to managing nightlife in the cities post-pandemic.

Pieter Lubberts
Pieter Lubberts gained a rich experience in the entertainment industry working with Sony Music, Dutch Radio 538, The Entertainment Group in diverse roles. In 2013, he successfully launched his own project – Live Republic, which merged and evolved into Backbone International. Today, Pieter is a director and one of the shareholders of this world-leading production management company with offices in North America, Asia, and Amsterdam.
During the Covid-19 crisis, he was invited to become program manager of Fieldlab Events, co-created by the events sector and the Dutch government aimed to accelerate the return to full operation for events with cross-sector collaboration.
