CURRENT MEMBER COLLABORATIONS

Water Sinking Cities

Water Sinking Cities is a project developed and managed by EVS volunteers at Trans Europe Halles Member Centres P60 (Amstelveen, The Netherlands) and NOASS (Riga, Latvia). Two international groups work on the project's theme: Water as a element of the nature and water embedded in sinking cities reflection.

The project involves nine young media artists from the three cultural centres who perform a live show in each venue, using audio-video expressions and collecting material inspired from three exchanges between June and September 2010. Research on the local environment is done in the different cities, producing audiovisual works for the final presentations. This melting pot of ideas, works and visions will be realised as a live show in each culture venue : NOASS (LV) and P60 (NL).

The artists involved are: Ashkan Honarvar (NL), Emile Van De Coevering (NL), Gatis Stauga (LV), Kaspars Groševs (LV), Krišs Zilgalvis (LV), Roberts Galviņš (LV), Robin Koek (NL), Sander Houtman (NL), and Marieke Van De Ven (NL).

An online platform has been launched where the artists can create a profile, communicate and set up their crews for the live shows. Everyone is welcome to take part in the discussion and leave comments to the artists.

Artists-in-Residency Exchange Programme

In 2008, a number of TEH member centres decided to develop an exchange programme between Trans Europe Halles centres that have an artist-in-residency programme and those who would like to start one.

Later in 2009, information about the different residency-opportunities will be added on the this website and the centres involved also aim at applying for funding for the further development of the Exchange Programme.

The centers that initiated the project are Farnham Maltings (UK), L’Avant Rue (France), Pekarna (Slovenia), OZU (Italy), Arts Printing House (Lithuania), TNT (France), Stanica (Slovakia), REX (Serbia), Kultuuritehas Polymer (Estonia), PRAC (Bulgaria) and Tou Scene (Norway).

Collaboration between Europe and Russia

In 2008-2009, the NGO's Aktovy Zal, TSEH Dance Agency and the Trans Europe Halles centre Proekt_Fabrika in Moscow are realizing a project that focuses on the reconversion of industrial buildings into creative spaces.

The project consists of several different parts and will include both a conference, a series of festivals and the production of a documentary film about the project. Trans Europe Halles is a partner in the project that aims at supporting new and non-commercial cultural operators in Russia.

Together with Aktovy Zal and TSEH Dance Agency, Trans Europe Halles developed the concept for and the content of the conference "Factories of the Imagination – a common space for a new creative culture across Europe and Russia" with workshops, lectures and seminars, that took place at Proekt_Fabrika in Moscow 9-11th of October 2008. In 2009, four festivals of modern contemporary Art will be organised within the project.

The festivals will be dedicated to the different European partner organisations and Trans Europe Halles members Arts Printing House, Mains d'Oeuvres and Melkweg will all be presented throughout the year.
