The workshop will count with the presence of operators, managers or designers who will introduce to the participants different approaches to set up (build or renovate) a venue. During the workshop participants will develop the main points in renovation of old industrial buildings and in organisation of spaces for cultural events. They will make a visual presentation of their own relation to a problem. Our aim is to collect ideas and models on how to make an art-centre functional and how to convert an unattractive structure into a pleasant place for various uses.
The result will be a creative manual, titled
How to create an independent cultural center that addresses the needs of a local community and that is able to operate on an international level. The ideas developed during the workshop will also be used as a source of inspiration and eventually applied to the spaces of Stanica.
“zilinaCITYgarden” workshop
Another workshop, named “
zilinaCITYgarden” dealing with the question
Can a cultural center deal with the local authorities? was already held at Stanica between April 30th and May 5th 2012.
The topic of the workshop was navigation in the public space. The main motivation was to establish a sustainable and effective co-operation with local authorities to improve public space and cultural development in Zilina. For this, the team of Stanica offered their experience with the centre to solve several actual problems. The workshop group worked on the navigation and the design of the public info-point for local people and tourists, educational maps, modern architectural heritage promotion and on improvement of the postering system.
The workshop group consisted of students and professionals working in the field of architecture, cultural management, design and tourism. At the beginning, people working at the municipal office were asked what kind of problems are they facing presently. To learn more click
