Since May, Mains d’Œuvres has been working with teenagers from Michelet High School to develop ideas on well-being politics for the city of Saint-Ouen, within the fields of energy, farming and industrial production and consumption.
The youngsters started with approaching those topics through artistic projects: the exhibition "Fruiter" by Marie Preston which talks about our ways of production, and the performance of choreographer Prue Lang who uses her own energy to produce electricity. Several workshops followed one after another during which the youngsters met experts in economy, scientists, and non-profit organisation focused on helping local farmers. The youngsters were full of ideas for the city and created slogans for t-shirts, such as “Just do it : Bike”, and radio jingles. The game "Give me Utopia" was also developed, in which four teams made recommendations for the city whilst playing!
On June 10th, Mains d’Œuvres invited local non-profit organisations, citizens and politicians to discover the work of the youngsters. The project has been a great success so far and the next part will take place in 2012.
Camille Dumas from Mains d’Œuvres says:
We can observe that artistic project opens the minds and inspired people to get ideas for their own life! This project is strength of dynamic for the city and its actors.
