Welcome!

Trans Europe Halles (TEH) is a European Network of Independent Cultural Centres that connects pioneering cultural actors of Moscow, Budapest and Belgrade with creative forces in Amsterdam, Helsinki and Berlin – to mention a few.
The network currently has 48 members and 11 Friend organisations in 26 European countries.

Founded in 1983, the network now brings together about fifty multidisciplinary and socially engaged member centres throughout Europe. Most centres are located in buildings from industrial heritage and have taken important action in challenging the established cultural policy.

Member Project: Water. Sinking Cities

Many exchanges, collaborations and projects take place within the Trans Europe Halles network. One of the most recent projects, Water. Sinking Cities, was initiated by EVS volunteers at two TEH Member Centres: NOASS (Riga, Latvia) and P60 (Amstelveen, The Netherlands).

Water. Sinking Cities involves nine young media artists from Latvia and The Netherlands, all investigating the theme of water and its role in nature and the urban environment. Exchanges take place between the two countries, leading up to audiovisual art works for the final presentations in Riga and Amstelveen.

Monica Aggio and Linda Konone, EVS Volunteers and masterminds behind the project, have written about their experiences on the CHANGING ROOM Youth Exchange Blog, where you can also see some photos from the exchanges so far.
